Continuing Our RCA FAQ Series: Price Adjustment Schedules & Qualification Rules (FAQ #4)

In our previous posts, we discussed the essential steps for setting up permission sets, licenses, and configuring products. Now, let’s take a deeper look into Price Adjustment Schedules and how to set them up for your products in Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA).

What Are Price Adjustment Schedules for Products?

Simply put, Price Adjustment Schedules are tools used to calculate and categorize product prices. They help create dynamic pricing models based on the characteristics of the products, the quantities being sold, or how products are bundled together.

There are three key types of price adjustment schedules in Salesforce RCA:

  • Price Adjustment Tiers: Use this adjustment to define a product’s price based on the number of items being sold.

  • Attribute-Based Adjustments: This adjustment defines a product’s price based on its attributes or configuration. For example, different product features (such as size, color, or capacity) may affect the overall price.

  • Bundle-Based Adjustments: This adjustment is used to calculate the price when a product is sold as part of a bundle or combination of different products. Discounts or special pricing can apply when certain items are sold together.

What Are Qualification Rules?

Once the pricing setup is complete, the next step is to define Qualification Rules. These rules control which customers are eligible for specific products or categories, based on factors such as location, account attributes, or other relevant information.

By default, all products and categories are qualified. However, you can use qualification rules to establish more precise conditions for when certain products are offered to customers. These rules help manage product availability across various customer segments or regions, ensuring that only eligible customers can purchase specific products.

Types of Qualification Rules

  • Qualification Rules: These rules qualify a product when it meets specified conditions, such as being available in a certain geographic region.

  • Disqualification Rules: These rules disqualify a product when it meets specific criteria, such as being restricted in a particular state or region.

How to Set Up a Qualification Rule in Salesforce RCA?

Here’s how to configure qualification rules step by step:

  1. Create a Custom Field: Start by creating a custom field on any standard object, such as Account or Quote.

  2. Create the Same Custom Field on the Product Qualification Object: This ensures the field can be mapped for product qualification.

  3. Clone the Standard Product Context Definition: Add and map the custom field with the corresponding data type in the context definition.

  4. Create the Qualification Rule and Decision Table: Define the specific qualification rule using the decision table to set the criteria.

  5. Create the Qualification Procedure: Map out the procedure to consistently apply the qualification rules to products and categories.

Conclusion

With pricing adjustments and qualification rules in place, you’re well on your way to mastering Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA).
